Ingredients:
4 slices of whole wheat bread
2 organic eggs
1/8 c milk or buttermilk
1/2 t ground cinnamon
1 t vanilla extract
raw sugar
ground cinnamon
honey
Preparation:
1. Beat the eggs, milk, 1/2 t ground cinnamon and vanilla extract together
2. If you wish to make french toast hearts, cut the bread with the cookie cutter
2. Moisten the bread in the egg mix for about 20 seconds on each side
3. Lightly coat the bread with raw sugar and ground cinnamon. Be careful not to overdo this – you don’t want your french toast to be super sweet (the raw sugar will add a delicious crunchiness)
4. Place the bread in a pan with a bit of butter or non-stick cooking spray and cook until golden brown
5. Decorate with confectioner’s sugar and serve with honey
